Jennie Godfrey – The List of Suspicious Things

Wednesday 15 May, 2:00pm-3:00pm
Fowey Town Hall

The List of Suspicious Things is set to be one of the most talked about debut books of 2024, and after publication, swiftly became a Sunday Times top ten bestseller. This is a multi-layered, bittersweet coming of age story of friendship and love. From her dad’s realisation that he knew the Yorkshire Ripper, to a passion for true crime podcasts, author Jennie Godfrey shares the inspiration behind her debut novel. In conversation with bestselling novelist Veronica Henry, Jennie will talk about coming to fiction after the age of 50, navigating social class, and the real-life inspiration behind her story of Miv, the twelve-year-old determined to track down the Yorkshire Ripper.

Jennie Godfrey was raised in West Yorkshire. She is a former FTSE100 HR Director who, after taking redundancy, began to write. She is now a Creative Writing PhD student at Bristol University and lives in the Somerset countryside.
