Born and raised in Cornwall, Kate Neale’s interest in Cornish Christmas carols was piqued during her research into Padstow’s unique tradition. This grew into her PhD study, which focussed on Cornish carolling traditions of Grass Valley, California and the Copper Triangle in South Australia. She explores what it was that made this music so important for these Cornish communities, and describes her experiences tracing these traditions from snowy California to baking hot South Australia and how her research resulted in a momentous carol service at Truro Cathedral in 2018. 50% of the net proceeds from this event will go to the Sir Arthur Quiller Couch Memorial Fund.
Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature is delighted to be supporting the Q Fund.
