Sunday 13th May
We are delighted to welcome back to the Festival, author, historical consultant and writer, Julie Summers. Best known for her highly acclaimed book Jambusters, the inspiration for ITV's successful drama series Home Fires, she joins us today to talk about her new book Our Uninvited Guests, an extraordinary tale of lives upended and cultures colliding. In 2015 when she was in Fowey talking about wartime fashion she learned about the American presence here during the war and it inspired her to dig deeper into the subject. There is an astonishingly colourful cast of characters that range from aristocrats and schoolboys in Blenheim Palace to Polish saboteurs at Audley End and French spies in a tiny manor house in Sussex.
