Julie Summers – Du Maurier Lecture Drinks Reception & Luncheon

Fowey Hotel

Time: 12:30pm-2:30pm

Price: £30.00

This year’s du Maurier Lecture will be held in the wonderful surroundings of the Fowey Hotel commencing with a drinks reception followed by a two-course lunch and coffee. Delivering the 2018 lecture is English author, historical consultant and writer, Julie Summers. Best known for the book Jambusters, the inspiration for ITV's successful drama series Home Fires, she is the granddaughter of Philip Toosey and the great niece of Sandy Irvine. Her new book, Our Uninvited Guests is an extraordinary tale of lives upended and cultures colliding. When she was in Fowey talking about wartime fashion, she learned about the American presence here during the war and it inspired her to dig deeper into the subject.  NB this event is reserved for Friends of the Festival. Please contact the Fowey Hotel on 01726 832 551 with any special dietary requirements.
